Day 01: Arequipa / Pampa Cañahuasi / Chucura /
Chivay
07:30 to 08:00 hrs. We will pick up all of the
passengers from their respective hotels.
We will embark on an unforgettable half day journey to
the Colca Canyon (3,300 meters deep) which is one of the
deepest canyons in the entire world. It is also the
natural habitat for the majestic Andean condor.
We will then go to the Pampa Cañahuasi to visit the
National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas. At the
reserve you will be able to see literally hundreds of
vicuñas and alpacas.
We will go through the wetlands of Tojra where you can
always see a variety of Andean birds. We will stop on
the way to have a rest and a view from the Lookout of
the Andes which stands at 4,900 meters. We will make
brief stops at the Chucura Crater and at the Chivay
lookout as well

In the afternoon, we will visit the local “la Calera”
hot springs, which are located at only about 3
kilometers from the pueblo. We will have a relaxing swim
in the naturally heated hours for a few hours. Entrance
is not included to the hot springs.
We will also have a chance to visit the Ethno-cultural
Museum, where we will learn about the distinctive way of
life of the local villagers and farmers of the Colca
Valley. There are examples of their colorful crafts,
their typical clothing and other items of cultural

Day 02: Lookouts / Cruz del Condor lookout / Pueblos /
Arequipa
Breakfast early in the morning
We will depart extremely early in the morning with the
hopes of witnessing the flight of one or more (probably
more) Andean Condors. We will appreciate the majestic
flight patterns as they soar over the many green
agricultural terraces far below them.
The grand Colca Canyon is about 3,400 meters deep and
over 200 kilometers long. Over the years, it has
received many agricultural treatments from the ethnic
cultures of the Collaguas and the Cabanas. They carved
out 7 thousand hectares of Andean style agricultural
terraces along the side of the canyon for better usage
of the natural resources. In the Colca Valley, there are
14 different pueblos all throughout that are full of
color and life.
On the way back to Chivay, we will have the option to
visit some of the other local points of interest. Places
such as the pre-Incan hanging tombs, ancient Stone
etchings, the lookout of the terraces and the typical
pueblos of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque.
Lunch at a tourist restaurant in Chivay
We will begin our return to Arequipa at an opportune
moment in the afternoon, arriving hopefully at about
5pm.
